Grassley: Trump ‘Doing Everything Needed’ in Virus Fight

President Donald Trump “is doing everything needed to keep Americans safe” during the coronavirus outbreak, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said Tuesday.
Grassley said in a tweet that he received a “classified briefing” by various federal departments and agencies about the coronavirus.
“After hearing from top levels of [government] I’m confident [Trump] is doing everything needed to keep Americans safe. If more $$ is needed then Congress will do its job under the Constitution,” he wrote.
The White House on Tuesday requested about $2.5 billion to combat the coronavirus outbreak.
Grassley said earlier this month that China being unwilling to share information “makes it all the more important that U.S. federal agencies work together and allow for maximum access to information across the government.”
“The intelligence community is hard at work to protect Americans,” he added. “It’s critical that their hard work not go to waste and that all federal health agencies have access to the information they need to do their jobs. Over-classification during a public health emergency could have deadly consequences. Federal health agencies must also have a seat at the table with the intelligence community when it makes decisions related to this issue.”
