ABC/WaPo Poll: Trump Supporters More ‘Enthusiastic’ Than Biden Backers

March 31, 2020   |   by James G. Dalton

A new poll shows President Donald Trump has nearly double the support from people who very excited to vote for him compared to likely voters for Joe Biden.

A new ABC News/Washington Post survey showed 55 percent of likely Trump voters were “very enthusiastic” about voting for the president while only 28 percent of likely voters for Biden said they were “very enthusiastic.”

Also, 86 percent of likely Trump voters say they are enthusiastic about voting for the president versus just 74 percent of Biden voters say the same.

The Washington Post pointed out that among recent candidates from both parties who’ve lost presidential campaigns,  low enthusiasm ratings was common among likely voters.

Since February, Trump has gained ground among all registered voters as well, narrowing Biden’s lead in points from seven to two. Today, Trump has 47 percent of registered voters compared to Biden’s 49 percent.

That’s working with a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points, which virtually puts Trump and Biden at a dead heat.

Trump has also seen strong support for how he’s handled the coronavirus pandemic and for the strong national economy prior to the national shutdown.

About 47 percent of respondents trusted Trump to handle the pandemic better than Biden. That’s compared to 43 percent who trusted former vice president more.

And 52 percent said they trusted the president to help the economy compared to just 42 percent for Biden.

We have never had a better President in this country who has been working so many issues in such a short time ….a little over 3 years and made so much progress, and doing this under so much scrutiny! Donald Trump is the best President in the history of our country!

Perfectly and well stated Tracy! I don’t remember any President doing so much in such a short amount of time. Not to mention while the Dems have continuously dogged him at every turn. It’s absolutely amazes me how childish they’ve acted. I only pray this horrible pandemic doesn’t derail everything!!

Thank God Trump is president. Hillary and the Democrats would have screwed up this virus pandemic big time. Democrats are playing politics, while thousands in the usa are dying
What is wrong with liberals? They need to quit their fear mongering, along with the liberal social medias FAKE news, and work with Trump.

This is another of those times when (like FDR said) “you don’t change horses in the middle of the stream “ I’m 91, been through a lot of presidents and, trust me, it’s vitally important that we re-elect President Trump. If we don’t, our country is in big trouble. There’s no time to break in another president. Joe Biden has years of experience as a vice-president NOT as a president. There’s a big difference. More important than ever before ,MAGA !!!! Re- elect President Trump. Your life may depend on it.

President Trump has amazed me by all he has accomplished so quickly. His campaign promises were real promises, not lies to get votes. I was a lifelong democrat until the Obama election. Then I spent 8 years feeling frightened because the country was going in a direction I did not believe in. Now I believe there are very few traditional democrats remaining since the socialists have taken them over. President Trump is a great leader, moving in the right direction and truly making America great again.I love that he speaks directly to us and makes us feel like our well being is important. Thumbs up for our president!

I will vote Trump 2020. He has done so much for our country even with all the BS the left has thrown at him. He has proven he is a true leader under pressure. Can only imagine what great things he could do with support from Congress and the Senate. We must re-election President Trump and vote all RED if we want our country to survive. God bless Trump and America.

Defend America has made an eloquent and all-inclusive statement. The mere thought of Trump not being reelected makes me nauseous. I’ll continue to pray for America to vote Trump and Republican in November!!
